gateways for cross-platform messaging between computers - Gateway/3000 for MCI Mail.

e-mail was in its infancy (pre-Internet days) for many

global access networks with e-mail services, like MCI Mail or AT&T
Easylink, which were not free like today, but were the only

cheap, but was incredibly functional with many features that have all
but disappeared from today's horizon, like alternative delivery of
undelivered fax messages as e-mail.

services are no longer the domain of the large company, but
available for anyone with a computer and for
free. Cross-platform communications collided with the web
page on the avenue of
the Internet TCP/IP protocol and
